About Melinda

I am a dancer, teacher, entrepreneur, and choreographer. I am a native San Diegan and have spent over 20 years dancing. I am teaching a variety of styles at a variety of locations and I am always adapting my schedule and abilities. I specialize in ballet and Pilates, and I have been teaching in San Diego since 2011. Before that I taught for 6 years at the Academy of Dance in Santa Ana.  I hold a B.A. in Dance from CSU, Fullerton,  and a certificate in Pilates mat work from Body Arts and Sciences International.

As a dancer I have had the joy of working with choreographers like: Merle Sepel, Mignon Furman, Jean Travers, Betzie Roe, Spencer Powell, and Elyssa Dru Rosenberg. My greatest honor was being Lara Segura's S. U. P. Choreography Consultant for Liquid Flux Part 3 in April 2016. I also had the pleasure of being a dancer in the piece. Check the video out on vimeo.com. This piece was part of the National Water Dance.

As a teacher I have been at the Kroc Center for over 10 years and have worked with a large amount of San Diego's youth. I feel my specialty is delivering the movement in a way that anyone, of any age, of any physical level, can understand. I love to create narratives for the shows we do and even create some of the costumes.

I  also started one of the first Paddle Board Pilates classes in San Diego. After such a great experience on the boards, I have also begun the first Stand Up Paddle Board Dance Company. I am looking forward to taking that to the next level. If you would be courageous enough to want to join us dancing on the boards please contact 619-701-5894 to discuss further.
